Safeguarding

At present, no childcare is provided for our public gatherings. Children should be supervised at all times by their parent or guardian.

Christ Church Northallerton is operating under the auspices of Taking Ground and with the support of Tees Valley Community Church, whose Safeguarding Policy is available here.

We are committed to the safeguarding of children, adults with care and support needs and staff, and ensuring their well-being wherever possible.

We recognise:

  • That we all have a responsibility to help prevent harm or abuse in all recognised forms.

  • The personal dignity and rights of everyone and the need to reflect this in our policies and procedures.

  • That everyone should be able to access the facilities and activities of the organisation, appropriate to the nature of those facilities and activities.

  • Children’s Social Services has lead responsibility for investigating all allegations or suspicions of abuse where there are concerns about a child. Adult Social Care has lead responsibility for investigating all allegations or suspicions of abuse where there are concerns about an adult with care and support needs. Where an allegation suggests that a criminal offence may have been committed, the police should be contacted as a matter of urgency.

We are committed to:

  • Following statutory and specialist guidelines in relation to safeguarding children and adults.

  • Ensuring that all staff and volunteers work within the agreed procedure of our safeguarding policy; supporting, resourcing and training workers to do so.

  • Implementing the requirements of all relevant legislation and ensuring that we are keeping up to date with national and local developments relating to safeguarding.

  • Supporting all in the organisation affected by abuse.

  • Undertaking proper care in the appointment and selection of those who will work with children and adults with care and support needs.

  • Doing all we can to make sure that those we have contact with are empowered to tell us if they are experiencing harm.
